The Scottish Water Industry Innovation Panel’s Summary Report and Recommendations

About the Innovation Panel

The Scottish Water Industry has undergone transformational change in recent years and, with Government leadership, has created a modern regulatory framework that meets the needs of customers and stakeholders. Scotland has been able to exploit its unique governance arrangements to push forward novel and innovative approaches, such as the introduction of retail competition and the introduction of a customer negotiated settlement model.

The Scottish Water Industry Innovation Panel was formed in August 2013 at the instigation of the Water Industry Commission for Scotland. The Innovation Panel set out to review Scottish Water’s innovative approaches, assess further opportunities for innovative approaches and assist Scottish Water in working with other stakeholders to develop these further opportunities and address concerns.

The Panel has produced a report which summarises its key findings and makes recommendations on a series of measures which will further enhance the opportunities for innovation to flourish.
