Competition for business customers in Scotland was introduced on 1 April 2008, under the Water Services etc. (Scotland) Act 2005. We are responsible for implementing the framework set out in the Act, including licensing all participants in the market.
We have worked to develop a framework for competition that:
- Is simple. Both suppliers and customers can understand and easily take advantage of the opportunities the market presents.
- Is fair. All suppliers can be confident that they will compete on an even footing.
- Promotes value and choice. Customers are able to choose a supplier that best meets their service and cost requirements.
You can find out more about how the market works in our ‘New suppliers
’ section or by visiting our dedicated business customer website, www.scotlandontap.gov.uk
